Aberdeen 2008
Our Clients comissioned the practice to investigate how the modern technologies within the oil sector could be represented in an substantial remodelling and extension to one of the largest granite villas in the West end of Aberdeen.
The proposal places the existing villa at the heart of the site - a position that has been eroded over the years through a series of ill conceived additions and subdivisions of the existing garden
The scheme is conceptually a glass ring with the villa being the jewel in the middle. The new wings to the North and South were to be minimally detailed - creating an 'art gallery' feel. The rear wing was lifted off the ground to improve the relationship and transparency to the mature trees within the valley to the Southern extent of the property.
